Boca Juniors defeated Rosario Central 1-0 in a match of the eighth round of the Apertura tournament of the Professional League. The match was played at La Bombonera and the winning goal was scored by Milton Giménez in the 9th minute of the first half. With this result, Boca became the sole leader of Zone A, although with one more match than its pursuers, Estudiantes, Tigre, and Argentinos.
In the first half, Boca was pressured by the defeat suffered in the Copa Libertadores and by the discontent of its fans. Despite this, the team managed to control the match and created several scoring opportunities. Giménez took advantage of a rebound and scored the only goal of the match.
Despite dominating, Boca could not extend its lead due to poor finishing and failures in play execution. On the other hand, Rosario Central could not create danger in the opposing goal and their only offensive attempt was neutralized by Boca's defense.
In the second half, Central tried to react with offensive plays from the wings, seeking the equalizer. However, Boca maintained a solid defense and resisted the attempts of the Rosario team. Thus, Giménez's goal was enough for Boca to secure the victory and consolidate its leadership in Zone A of the Professional League.
